What Is LGBTQIA+ Therapy?
LGBTQIA+ therapy refers to counseling focused on helping the LGBTQIA+ community take care of their mental health. The purpose is to provide open, empathetic, and educated treatment to address your challenges.
Do You Need Therapy?
Pain and suffering are universal. As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, you may face the same life stressors as everyone else—depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and more.
However, you may experience additional hardship fueled by prejudice, discrimination, and misinformation. These challenges can impact your ability to handle common problems, turning into a damaging spiral.
Some of the added challenges LGBTQIA+ individuals go through include:
-
Abuse
-
Bigotry
-
Bullying or attacks
-
Confusion or lack of support when exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, or transition process
-
Guilt, shame, and low self-worth
-
Ignorance about the LGBTQIA+ community
-
Mistreatment and rejection
-
Risky or self-destructive thoughts, emotions, and actions
-
Society’s stigma and stereotypes
-
Unequal access to human rights, healthcare, housing, jobs, and resources
Consider therapy if you or someone you know is enduring any of these issues.
LGBTQIA+ therapy gives you the space and guidance to navigate common and unique difficulties in a way that honors your authentic self. We will peel your layers, discuss your experiences, and enhance your skills for present and future adversity.
