ABOUT ME

I graduated with my Masters in Social Work degree from the Joint MSW Program at the University of North Carolina and A&T University in 2001. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist in the State of Maryland since 2003. I have experience in treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma and dual diagnosis as well as relationship challenges.

My approach as a therapist largely depends on what works for you. I believe that developing insight into our experiences of the past helps us to understand how we relate to the world in the present and yet in order for things to change for us today, we often need to shift our behaviors and enhance how we are coping. While there are specific approaches that have been proven to work for many clients, I believe that there still needs to be attention to each individual's personal experience and identities in relation to sexuality, gender, culture, race, religion, lifestyle and community, and personal preferences.
